The 3rd annual meeting of the Poll-Ole-GI project was held on November 8 and 9 in INRA Le Magneraud.

In 2018, the APIS unit has welcomed the different partners of Poll-Ole-GI for the annual meeting in the INRA center of Le Magneraud, where all the institutions were represented: The University of Burgos (UBU), the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), the University of Coimbra (UC), the CNRS and INRA. Each group presented the actions and demonstration fields which occurred in 2018, many of which have already been documented on the Poll-Ole-GI site.

The campaigns on rapeseed and sunflower crops (nectar sampling, oil and soil analyses …) conducted by UAM, UBU and CNRS are finished for second and final project pilot year. At the same time, several activities for weeds monitoring were carrying out. In Spain, flower margins were tested along crops borders for a second year (see the Inter-regional flower mixture guide published on the website) while CNRS conducted nitrogen and azote reduction experiments with farmers in the Zone Atelier. The University of Burgos studied pesticide retention in soils for different types of soils.

The University of Coimbra, INRA and CNRS finished the second and final pilot beekeeping season. Each partner collected data on bees’ population dynamic, varroa pressure, pollen and honey collection. Pesticide residues analyses (currently in progress) on different agricultural matrix will allow evaluating risks pollinators have to face in their environment and inside the hive for honeybees.

The above represents just some of the most notable activities carried out in 2018. Overall, the meeting provided an occasion to review of all activities carried out in 2018 in order to target future actions and keep up the progress on the different deliverables and objectives.
